Winter Holiday Glühwein

We want to celebrate our first year open to the public by sharing one of our favorite holiday traditions with you, German Glühwein. Glühwein is the quintessential winter drink where I come from. Mulled wine doesn't even come close. This is made from our own wine using an ancient (easily 40,000 years old) family recipe. I can trace this back to when my family wasn't walking upright and I suspect the reason they weren't is this drink. A drink like your men: sweet, strong, spicy and hot. Oranges, cloves, sugar, our very own brandy, vanilla and, of course, all kinds of secret ingredients, all heated to just below the temperature where the alcohol evaporates (yes, we measure it CLOSELY). Warms your tummy from inside and your soul from all around. Why would you ever drink anything else when it starts to get cold outside? 

Light snacks will also be served. 

One free cup of Glühwein / ticket. Additional servings are $5/cup.

Join us for a special evening with San Francisco Chef and Artist Kathleen Posade Weber.  She'll be preparing one of her favorite seasonal dishes, she hand prepares everything with fresh, local ingredients; even the special flour she uses to make her pasta. Each course will be paired with one of our Stonehouse Cellars wines, culminating with a tasting of our yet to be released Port-style dessert wine.

Handmade Pasta and Wine Dinner Menu:

Salad – Arugula Salad with Summer Peaches and Goat Cheese

Primi Course – Homemade Angel Hair Pasta with Fresh Pesto Sauce

Secondi Course – Homemade Ravioli with Roasted Red Pepper, Walnut, and Parmesan filling finished with a Tomato and Roasted Red Pepper Sauce 

Dessert – Grilled Black Cherries with Gelato 

Kathleen will also display paintings from her latest series "Rejoined" where she explores the use of classic stone pigments of Lapis Lazuli, Cobalt Blue, and Prussian Blue combined with precious metals such as 24 karat gold leaf.
